As someone who used to play around with photography, I learned early on that light doesn't just allow us to see color, it can also transform it. The same fabric can look like two completely different shades depending on whether you're under warm incandescent bulbs, cool fluorescent office lights, or natural daylight.
Natural daylight is the most honest and true light source, which is why my sessions are run at specific times of the day to ensure that the lighting is the most neutral and controlled.
If we tested your drapes under a warm yellow bulb, everything would skew warmer than it actually is — and your results would be wrong. And if I analyzed you in mall lighting, the colors would be skewed cool or washed out and wouldn't be as accurate as well.
It's also why that top you loved in the fitting room sometimes feels off when you get home. Store lighting can sometimes be too harsh or uneven. But dont worry, there are tips and tricks I will give you to help you shop with confidence even when the lighting isn't perfect. The goal is to know your colors before going in so that even with different lighting sources you can learn to read how colors are working on you.
Understanding this doesn't just help you shop smarter. It helps you understand why a color might look different in photos, in the office, or at an evening event — and how to adjust your choices accordingly.
